It’s that time again – the most wonderful time of year.
It seems like Christmas creeps up earlier and earlier every year – some local radio stations already were dedicated to playing holiday music even weeks before Thanksgiving.
So in the spirit of Christmas, I’d like to share some DIY/decorating blogs that really knocked my socks off. Or should I say, stockings (sorry, I like puns and corny humor).
A Beautiful Mess is run by two sisters, Elsie and Emma, who are passionate about their lifestyle and sharing it with others. Elsie started the blog as a way to keep up with friends and family, but it quickly flourished into her primary business. She brought her sister on board to contribute as well.
The blog layout is gorgeous and catches the eye; it’s very user-friendly. I got lost exploring it for a while.
A Beautiful Mess not only is DIY/decorating, but it’s a multifaceted resource for anyone with a creative inkling for personal style, fashion, photography, and cooking. From their photo-editing app that gives your photos a colorful boost, to a handy-dandy Holiday Gift Guide for those pesky and hard to shop for guys, to how to make your own peppermint hand scrub, this blog has something for everyone.

Simple, chic, minimalist, classy, and elegant – if this is your style and how you would describe your home, then Myquillyn’s blog Nesting Place is for you. This is no typical DIY blog, but rather, Myquillyn teaches you how to think about the atmosphere of your home and that “it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.”
One of the holiday decorations she teaches you how to make step-by-step is this DIY Christmas Village, which is subtle enough to be an everyday feature in your home and not just for Christmastime.

Coming from a background in display and interior design, blogger Diane, of In My Own Style shares her budget-friendly ideas for home décor. Her unique, simple, and fun holiday ideas are sure to make decking your halls easy and stress-free.
From tips on outdoor decorating, making your home look more festive and cozy, and how to make your own bows and decorations for presents, this blog has it all.
A quick and easy craft that anyone can make is this “Christmas card holder you can make tonight” using leftover ribbon. No sewing required!

“If you’ve got it, flaunt it,” right? That’s the spirit behind Roeshel’s blog, DIY Show Off.
Roeshel believes we’ve all “got it” and encourages readers to share and “show off” their creations and accomplishments.
In her About section, she breaks down her day-to-day routine, so it’s a good read for anyone looking to start their own blog, or for someone who just wants a peek behind the scenes into the life of a DIY blogger.
Christmas decorating and tips for hosting holiday parties have taken over its feed recently, like how to make your own lighted candy cane decorations or this mini magical mistletoe greenhouse centerpiece.
