This year’s National Voter Registration Day (Sept. 24) shattered records with an estimated 400,000 citizens registering for the first time or updating their voter registration. This unprecedented number is more than three times the previous record set for an “off-year” focused primarily on local elections, and far outpaced expectations.
Small Business Job Growth Rebounds in September; Wage Growth Also Increases
Job growth increased in September, as did hourly and weekly earnings growth, according to the latest Paychex | IHS Markit Small Business Employment Watch. At 98.22, the national jobs index experienced its largest gain in three years (0.21%), breaking with recent trends; however, the index remains down 0.97% year-over-year. In September, hourly earnings growth rose at its fastest one-month pace since 2016 to 2.77% ($0.74). Weekly earnings growth continued its upward trend as well, reaching 2.93%.
One Third of Millennials Would Consider Ending a Relationship Because of a Financial Secret, According to TD Bank’s Fifth Annual Love and Money Survey
Millennials value financial openness in their relationships, with 31% saying they would consider breaking up with their partner if they discovered hidden debt or a bad credit score, according to the fifth annual Love and Money Survey by TD Bank. The survey polled 1,753 U.S. individuals who are married, in a committed relationship or divorced to learn more about how they approach money.
OpenTable Announces the 50 Best Restaurants for Vegetarians in America for 2019
In celebration of World Vegetarian Day, OpenTable, the world’s leading provider of online restaurant reservations and part of Booking Holdings Inc., on Oct. 1 released its list of the 50 Best Restaurants for Vegetarians in America for 2019. According to data from OpenTable, plant-based diets and meat alternatives have become much more prevalent in 2019 than previous years with reviews featuring “plant based” increasing by 200% since 2017. Additionally, there were less than 100 reviews before 2016 that mention “vegan,” but that number has since increased by almost 15,000 per month.
Fleetwood Mac Announce Final Show of World Tour After Eight Countries and 80-Plus Shows
Due to overwhelming fan demand from around the world, the legendary Grammy Award-winning band Fleetwood Mac announced on Oct. 3 the final show of their 2018/2019 sold out world tour. The tour kicked off last October and after nearly a year on the road with 80-plus concert events across eight countries, the band will mark their final show of the tour on Saturday, Nov. 16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Produced by Live Nation, the tour featured the newly minted line-up of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Christine McVie along with newcomers Mike Campbell and Neil Finn.
