Blog Profiles: Fitness Blogs
Welcome to Blog Profiles! Each week, we select a topic and handful of blogs that do a great job contributing to the conversation. With resolutions in mind, this week is all about fitness blogs. Do you have a blog that deserves recognition? Tweet our writers at @BeyondBylines.
At this time of year, social media feeds are filled with ballads of motivation, photos of leafy greens, and stories of weight loss. Fitness and lifestyle changes are suddenly at the top of everyone’s mind.
Perhaps your New Year’s resolution is to reach a healthy weight or eat more mindfully.
It goes without saying that you should always follow your doctor’s recommendations. A doctor can give you expert advice, and it’s a safe place to start if you don’t already exercise and you’re beginning a new workout or diet for the first time.
If you’re looking for extra guidance and motivation, check out these powerful fitness bloggers that stick to their workouts all year long.
1. Rachel Brathen
It’s amazing how many millions of people follow Rachel Brathen on social media in 2020. I started following Rachel on Instagram in 2013 and have seen her grow with me, as we are very similar in age. She rapidly gained millions of followers and rose to stardom at an astonishingly successful rate.
Brathen’s main blog is called Yoga Girl, which focuses on yoga, health, wellness, healing, and more. Her honest, humble, and family-oriented vibe makes it easy to connect with her.

2. Nerd Fitness
Nerd Fitness offers free fitness resources and tips for all levels. I especially admire the blog’s focus on beginners’ workouts.
Founder Steve Kamb is a self-proclaimed nerd and deadlift who believes “there’s a lot of B.S. out there about fitness.” Members of the Nerd Fitness community are working to put a stop to it. They also take pride in the “eleven pillars of the Nerd Fitness Rebellion,” two of which include “we question everything” and “no rebel left behind.”

3. Joe Wicks
Joe is clearly against the dieting industry. As he states on his website, “I am sick and tired of people struggling on low calorie diets and meal replacement shakes.”
I grew up in a physically active family, so I feel like I know a thing or two about fitness. One thing I can agree with Joe on is getting healthy means educating yourself and building a strong body without starving yourself.

4. Cassey Ho
Cassey Ho is a body positive, “award-winning fitness instructor, entrepreneur and personality based in Los Angeles, CA.” She’s known in the fitness industry for creating POP Pilates®, the innovative workout of fusing pop music with pilates routines. She’s also the creator of the Blogilates blog.
The first elements that I noticed on Ho’s blog were the comic illustrations of herself moving through her fitness journey. If you like challenges, Cassey has plenty to offer.
