Blog Profiles: Stress Management Blogs

Welcome to Blog Profiles! Each week, we select a topic and handful of blogs that do a great job contributing to the conversation. Everyone’s stress levels are elevated, so we’re dedicating this week’s post to stress management blogs. Do you have a blog that deserves recognition? Tweet our writers at @BeyondBylines.

April is Stress Awareness Month, but with everything going on, it feels like the entirety of 2020 should just be The Stress Awareness Year. So even though April doesn’t start for a few days, we’re getting a jump on it.

There are many different techniques to relieve stress, and different things work for different people.

Whether you’re experiencing worry, stress, or anxiety, hopefully there’s a blog on this list that can help. (Need more stress management help? Make sure to check out our 2021 list of stress management blogs as well.)

1. The American Institute of Stress

The American Institute of Stress (AIS) is a nonprofit dedicated to “transforming stress through awareness, education, and collaboration.”

In addition to providing stress management tools and resources, AIS publishes stress management-related magazines, offers certifications for health care professionals, and regularly updates its blog. The blog mostly consists of stress relief-related posts from around the web.

Read these posts: How to Keep Family Stress Away While Everyone Is Home; Mindfulness and yoga helps South Bend elementary students cope with stress; and 4 healthy ways to manage stress.

2. Stress to Strength

The goal of Stress to Strength is “to help you discover your way out of the stress spiral with simple, sustainable, self-care techniques, tools, strategies and solutions.”

Stress to Strength is managed by Drs. John and Judy Hinwood, both former chiropractors and current leaders in stress management. Both are Fellows of the American Institute of Stress.

The site includes a stress test, free books, guided visualizations and meditations, and plenty of unique blog posts looking at different stress reduction techniques.

Managing the Rising Stress, Anxiety and Stigma of Covid-19; Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) … the Toilet Paper War; and Water … A Brilliant De-Stressor are good reads.

3. Mellowed

The team at Mellowed writes about “mental health, stress management, anxiety, wellness and everything else that plays a part in helping you live a life you enjoy.”

I recommend checking out the Reviews section for looks at stress relief products like apps, books, weighted blankets, and more. The social media pages haven’t been updated in a while, so make sure to check in regularly with the blog. It’s updated more often.

The blog also has in-depth courses on self esteem, social skills, and de-stressing.

Good blog! The general health of your heart depends on effective stress management. Yoga’s most obvious benefit to heart health is its capacity to relax the body and mind.
