Aunt Jemima Brand to Remove Image from Packaging and Change Brand Name
Aunt Jemima, one of the long-time brands of Quaker Oats Co., a subsidiary of PepsiCo Inc., today (June 17) announced it will remove the image of Aunt Jemima from its packaging and change the name of the brand. Packaging changes without the Aunt Jemima image will begin to appear throughout Q4 of 2020. The name change will be announced at a later date and will quickly follow the first phase of packaging changes.
Where Are America’s Most (and Least) Skilled Workers?
The U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics today (June 17) announced the release of a new analysis of the states and counties with the highest and lowest levels of adult literacy and numeracy skills. The data show that Alaska, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Vermont are among the top five states for both literacy and numeracy proficiency (as measured by average score), while the District of Columbia is in the top five in literacy and North Dakota is in the top five in numeracy. The same five states are at the lowest end for both literacy and numeracy: Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.

The Harris Poll released on June 12 the Harris Poll Essential 100, a ranking of corporate response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Americans say 100 leading companies played a truly essential role during the crisis. The top 10, based on the survey, are (in order): U.S. Postal Service, Clorox, Google, United Parcel Service, Walmart, Amazon, Purell, Microsoft, FedEx, and CVS.
LaGuardia Gateway Partners Announces June 13 Opening of Arrivals and Departures Hall in Brand New Terminal B at LaGuardia

National PTA Adopts Position Statement on Reopening of Public PreK-12 Schools for the 2020-2021 School Year
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the National PTA board of directors has adopted a position statement on the reopening of public preK-12 schools for the 2020-2021 school year. The statement calls for any decision to reopen schools to involve parents, families, students, educators, school employees, public health experts, health practitioners, and community members in the planning, implementation, and monitoring stages of reopening. It also calls on federal and state governments to provide the funding necessary to ensure that schools have the resources they need to reopen as safely and successfully as possible.
