U.S. Wages Grew 4.4% in Fourth Quarter 2020 Due to Low Wage Job Loss as COVID-19 Continues to Disrupt Labor Market
Wages for U.S. workers grew 4.4% over the last year, increasing the average wage level by $1.27 to $30.19 an hour, while employment growth demonstrated a continued downward slide by -7.9%, according to the ADP Research Institute Workforce Vitality Report (WVR) released Jan. 27. The average wage growth is higher than expected as a result of significant job losses among low wage earners, which increased the average. However, higher-income groups experienced flat wage growth compared to lower-income groups, as most of the job losses came from low wage jobs.
Taboola to Become NYSE-Listed at an Implied $2.6 Billion Valuation via a Merger with ION Acquisition Corp. 1 Ltd.
Taboola, a global leader in powering recommendations for the open web, helping people discover things they may like, on Jan. 25 announced it has entered into a definitive merger agreement with ION Acquisition Corp. 1 Ltd., a special purpose acquisition company. The combined company will operate under the Taboola name and will trade on the NYSE under the new symbol “TBLA.” The transaction is expected to close in Q2 of 2021.
Edmunds Experts Forecast 15.5 Million New Vehicles Will Be Sold in 2021
The car shopping experts at Edmunds say that the auto industry is on track for greater stability and healthier sales this year, forecasting that 15.5 million new cars will be sold in 2021. Edmunds analysts note that this would represent a 6.5% lift compared to last year.
