With the highly anticipated – albeit provocative – Summer Olympics [re]scheduled to commence Friday, July 23, what better time to tap into a few dedicated Olympic authorities to foster a heightened appreciation for the games to come?

QUICK HITS/RESOURCES:

Now, allow me to pass the torch to the Olympic content champions to follow.

SBNation

Currently owned by Vox Media but established back in 2005 by co-founders Tyler Bleszinski and Markos Moulitsas, this sports blogging network is a homerun for active content. Bleszinski created the framwork back in 2003. He started off with a passion for the Major League – more specifically the Oakland A’s – before expanding the site to its current and all-encompassing state of athletic excellence.

Fair Warning: The team over at SBNation is bringing “50 Shades of Sports,” so for this post I did my best to hyper-focus my limited attention span toward their top tier 2021 Summer Olympics content. But I’m not here to tell you what you can and can’t read. #YouDoYou

Inside the Games

As Dunsar Media’s flagship platform, insidethegames.biz is an award-winning global hub for Olympic content. With content as diverse as their reported readership (32% Americas, 39% Europe, 19% Asia, 6% Oceania, 4% Africa), it comes as no surprise that their quality storytelling secures over 800,000 unique visitors per month.

Games and Rings

This site is self-described as a “Blog for Olympic Sports Fans.” Need I write more? The answer is no but that does not take away from Games and Rings being an obvious contender, fit for today’s varsity lineup.

Games and Rings provides daily roundups of Olympic headlines, highlights up-and-coming athletes to watch, and has cheeky commentary surrounding the games in the social sphere. This selection is a standout as it all boils down to one Bruin-loving Olympic fanatic based in the Bay Area.

A few more shoutouts:

Yes, these may veer from my blog-centered focus, but I have learned to be unapologetic for my quirks, which we’ve discussed on multiple occasions at this point. Nonetheless, the final shoutouts deserve their recognition as a few additional authorities whose coverage and detailed analysis have contributed to the Olympic Movement.

In closing, our prized athletes have dedicated their lives to compete in what I project to be a cultural spectacle spoken of for generations. Afterall, it’s been 57 years since the games landed in Tokyo and I have no doubt the honorable community of Japan has taken the last year to ensure their 2020 [turned 2021] bid goes down in history as a glorious and awe-inspired Summer Games.

Let the countdown continue with 30 days to go…

Until next time – Cheers Friends
