Newsweek Releases 2022 World’s Best Hospitals List
Newsweek has released the 2022 World’s Best Hospitals List for the third year in a row in partnership with Statista. The rankings recognize 2,200 hospitals across 27 countries, including the three new additions of Colombia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The U.S. has a dominating presence on the Global Top 150 list, claiming 33 hospitals overall and an extraordinary half of the top 10 spots. Germany claims the second-highest number at 14 and Italy and France come in at 10 each. These rankings highlight medical institutions that have weathered the immense challenges posed by the global pandemic by continuing to deliver the highest-quality patient care, conducting critical research and attracting top-tier talent.
S&P 500 Members Continue to Increase Job Listings in 2022 Lead by Utility, Energy, and Financial Companies
S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI) has released the latest data for the S&P 500 LinkUp Jobs Index. The index, which measures the change in open job listings at S&P 500 companies, shows that available positions increased year-to-date by 3.8% through Feb. 21.
Utilities, Energy and Financials companies continue to increase job listings at the fastest rate in 2022, with 20.1%, 17.4% and 16.3% increases respectively. In terms of market performance, Energy also continues to be the only sector in the S&P 500 to generate positive returns this year at 19.9%. Consumer Staples companies have increased job listings at the lowest rate in both the short and longer term with a 0.19% YTD increase in 2022 and a 1.65% decrease in February 2022.
Capital One Releases Two-Year COVID Retrospective on Americans’ Financial Health
Timed to the two-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Capital One Insights Center has released new research that shows the gap between lower and higher earners continues to widen against new affordability pressures. As part of the Center’s ongoing Marketplace Index survey, this latest release dives into the disproportionate impact of the pandemic across income groups against the backdrop of rising inflation.
“Americans believe their financial health has declined to levels not seen since early in the pandemic,” says Melissa Bearden, Head of Consumer Intelligence at Capital One. “For those earning the least, the last two years of uncertainty and rapid change are creating worrisome financial realities. Coupled with the current backdrop of rising inflation, bill payment rates continue to decrease across all income levels and many consumers say that they are struggling to cover the cost of household staples.”
