Triple-I: 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecast to be ‘Above-Normal’

An above-normal level of tropical cyclone activity is projected for 2022 in the Atlantic basin, according to a forecast released today (April 7) by Colorado State University’s (CSU) Department of Atmospheric Science.

Led by research scientist Phil Klotzbach, Ph.D., also a non-resident scholar at the Insurance Information Institute (III), the CSU Tropical Meteorology Project team anticipates 19 named storms, nine hurricanes, and four major hurricanes during the 2022 season, which starts on June 1 and continues through Nov. 30. A typical season has 14 named storms, seven hurricanes, and three major hurricanes.

Cisco Tops FORTUNE’s 25th Annual 100 Best Companies to Work for List in 2022

Today (April 11) FORTUNE and Great Place to Work revealed their annual 100 Best Companies to Work For list, with Cisco taking top honors for the second year in a row.

Of this year’s leader, FORTUNE Senior Reporter Megan Leonhardt writes, “The tech giant has offered free counseling sessions through the company’s employee assistance program for more than 20 years and recently boosted its digital therapy options […] It launched a companywide Day for Me, essentially an additional paid vacation day in spring 2020 to help workers prioritize self-care. Cisco formally implemented the benefit last year and has offered an extra eight days of paid time off so far, with an additional three planned in 2022.”

Major League Baseball Fans Will Enjoy More Than 19 Million Hot Dogs and Nearly 5 Million Sausages at Ballparks in 2022

Hot dogs and sausages are consistently among the most ordered food items at Major League Baseball (MLB) stadiums. And in 2022, the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC) estimates MLB fans will consume 19.1 million hot dogs and nearly 5 million sausages at games this season.

Certain fan bases will contribute a considerable amount to these estimations, including Los Angeles Dodgers fans, who are expected to eat nearly three million hot dogs and sausages on their own this year, and New York Yankees fans, who will likely break the one million hot dog mark. Some of the expected 2022 sausage leaders include the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, and St. Louis Cardinals.
