6 Skincare Vloggers Your Skin Will Thank You For This Summer & Beyond
Welcome to Blog Profiles! Each week, we select a topic and handful of blogs that do a great job contributing to the conversation. This week’s dedicated to standout skincare vloggers that put the focus on me, myself and my SPF. Do you have a blog (or vlog) that deserves recognition? Tweet our writers at @BeyondBylines.
As I said in my New Year’s roundup, there came a point after the onset of the pandemic when I chose to invest in my future. Little did I know that it would only take a few steps a day to discover the dewy glow I never knew I wanted.
That’s right folks, my strides for growth started with broad-spectrum SPF. After all, seasons come and go, but our skin is with us for life. So, let’s take a moment to reapply our protection factor as we dive into six skincare vloggers that have contributed to my wellness journey…
1. James Welsh
Let me start by clarifying that James Welsh and Robert Welsh are not the same person. With that disclaimer out of the way, I am a fan of all the Welsh brothers, but James was the inception of my sk-interest. For those new to the space, James was one of the first skincare enthusiasts on YouTube to organically hop the pond – gaining an American audience without leaving the comfort of London. His authentic, entertainment-based education will save you from breaking the bank or breaking out with the amount of trial-and-error required to find your holy-grail routine.

2. Cassandra Bankson
As a fashion model, environmentally conscious consumer and our “acne big sister,” Cassandra is an established thought leader in skincare. With an inclusive community of Be-YOU-tiful butterflies, this is one influencer that has earned their burgeoning audience, offering candid insight from the eyes of a tenured esthetician. While I am only two years into my skin game, each upload brings me closer to the ranks of “skin-tellectual.” Thanks, Cass!

3. Dr. Shereene Idriss
If you are here for the facts — or a fan of the Doctorly or Dr. Dray that I showcased in January — Dr. Idriss will hands-down hit the mark! The good doctor kicked content production into high gear to combat the rapid rise of misinformation in skincare and cosmetic procedures. And who better to educate and empower us to be our best selves than a board-certified dermatologist? Based in NYC, Dr. Shereene Idriss’ approach is rooted in appropriate maintenance and the subtle changes that helped this little nerd to achieve actual results.

4. Dana Ripperton
Dana is a consistent creator and small business owner whose YouTube channel predates some of the biggest names on the platform. With a more modest following, Dana is the prime example of the power of quality content — especially when the number of subs and/or views a creator has can determine whether we click on a video on account of the implied sense of credibility. I was in search of a new sunscreen in recent months when I stumbled across Dana’s channel. Her authenticity in that video played a key factor in my purchase and the decision to subscribe to her channel was a flawless choice.

5. Doctor Youn
If you are on social media, you’ve likely come across Dr. Anthony Youn. With no shortage of content, Anthony Youn, M.D. F.A.C.S. is commonly referred to as America’s Holistic Plastic Surgeon. Recognized as an authority in holistic beauty, he has a podcast and is the author of the best-selling books “The Age Fix: A Leading Plastic Surgeon Reveals How To Really Look Ten Years Younger,” “In Stitches: A Memoir,” and “Playing God: The Evolution of a Modern Surgeon.” Accolades aside, his astute banter and knack for storytelling make him a clear choice to close out today’s showcase.

Cheers,
Cory Max
