Statement by U.S. Conference of Mayors on SCOTUS Decision to End Women’s Right to Safe, Legal, Accessible Abortion
Today (June 24), the conservative majority of the U.S. Supreme Court ended a woman’s right to safe, legal, and accessible abortions, voting 5-4 in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization to overrule Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, ignoring the dangers to women’s health and 50 years of precedent. The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) has policy — voted on and passed by mayors — urging Congress and states to protect and improve women’s access to safe and comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including abortions. At the USCM Annual Meeting earlier this month, mayors reaffirmed their support by adopting a new resolution.

FDA Denies Authorization to Market JUUL Products
Today (June 23), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued marketing denial orders (MDOs) to JUUL Labs Inc. for all of their products currently marketed in the U.S. As a result, the company must stop selling and distributing these products. In addition, those currently on the U.S. market must be removed, or risk enforcement action. The products include the JUUL device and four types of JUULpods: Virginia tobacco flavored pods at nicotine concentrations of 5% and 3% and menthol-flavored pods at nicotine concentrations of 5% and 3%.

Cars.com: 88% of Holiday Travelers Remain Committed to Their July Fourth Road Trip Despite High Fuel Costs
A new survey by the car-shopping marketplace Cars.com reveals that while 88% of American travelers plan to drive to their holiday destinations over Independence Day weekend, more than three-fourths say record-high gas prices have impacted plans, with many opting to stay closer to home or bring friends along to help chip in at the pump.
Distance is the predominant sacrifice. More than half of those surveyed say they’ll be driving a shorter distance due to fuel costs, and while 62% of 2021 respondents said their goal was to get “as far from the house as possible” last Fourth of July, this year, 68% of road trippers will stay within 50 miles of home.

These are findings fromPwC’s Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2022-2026.
